The Advancing Innovative Math Solutions (AIMS) Collaboratory

The Advancing Innovative Math Solutions (AIMS) Collaboratory is a community of practice composed of teams committed to advancing mathematics education, particularly for students of color and students affected by poverty. AIMS teams work in partnerships of educational technology solution providers, education researchers, and educational practitioners to design and test innovative solutions to pressing challenges in mathematics education. Through the community of practice, teams share findings related to the R&D strategies, products, instructional approaches, and professional development supports that they are building. As part of their work, AIMS teams are building R&D infrastructure (e.g., research platforms, universal data agreements) to support a growing community of researchers with common research goals. They also work together on unique AIMS-sponsored projects to collectively address shared challenges and push the boundaries of our thinking on issues such as culturally responsive mathematics pedagogy and incorporating student voice into the design process. A team from MenloEDU, WestEd, and the National Network of Education Research-Practice Partnerships (NNERPP) facilitate the Collaboratory. AIMS is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
